Zelensky Warned “People Will Die” Without Starlink - Musk Says Ukraine Broke the Rules First

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lashed out at Elon Musk and the United States after Starlink service in Ukraine was interrupted earlier this month, and the episode is raising fresh doubts about whether the Ukrainian leader can be trusted.

Starlink, which is run by Musk’s SpaceX, had been used by Ukraine to carry out strikes on Russia. According to The London Economic, Zelensky wrote to Musk calling the interruption a “big mistake” that would lead to “a lot of losses.” He added, “People will die if attacks continue and if Starlink will not work.”

Musk responded on X on Saturday, writing that using Starlink, “a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be.” He noted that Starshield is a separate system controlled by the U.S. government, and said Ukraine’s military “violated Starlink terms of service” by using it for offensive drone strikes, a loophole he said “was closed last week.”

Musk also stressed that Starlink remains critical to Ukraine’s defense because it cannot be jammed or blown up, warning that if it were turned off, “the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately,” and insisting, “This is NOT a threat.” He added that Starlink helped stop Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war and that SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company “BY FAR.” He closed by expressing “UTTER CONTEMPT” for the “virtue-signaling evil warmongers” pushing for endless slaughter, telling them, “May you burn in hell.”

The bottom line is that it was not Musk who broke the rules, not Musk who keeps pushing for endless slaughter in an unwinnable war, and not Musk who was to blame for Ukraine violating Starlink’s terms. It was Zelensky.

On Sunday, Musk kept up the pressure, once again calling out Ukraine for breaking the Starlink rules. Musk has clearly had enough.
