Rapper Nicki Minaj has lashed out at New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, calling her an “evil woman” who will “not escape God’s wrath,” amid speculation that she could become President Donald Trump’s next press secretary.

Minaj, who grew up in Queens, went after the Democrat in several social media posts on Wednesday, less than a week before Hochul faces Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in her bid to keep her seat. Minaj argued that the Democratic Party should forfeit the seat, claiming Hochul faces a “downward spiral” and that “she did not denounce evil when she had the chance.”

Asked about the posts, Hochul appeared taken aback and shook her head, then suggested Minaj should “get outside, and stop going to Trump rallies.” Blakeman, meanwhile, welcomed the criticism, posting on X, “Nicki, I’ve got the U-Haul ready. It’s time to fire the worst governor in America.” In a follow-up post, he called Minaj “probably the best female rapper of all time” and Hochul “the worst governor in the history of New York.”

Minaj later urged her New York followers to vote for Blakeman, again slamming Hochul over a past remark about “black kids growing up in the Bronx” who don’t know what a computer is. In an all-caps post, Minaj asked how Black voters and Christians could support the governor. It remains unclear what prompted the rapper’s posts.

The outburst came just days after Minaj joined Trump on stage at a rally for Republican candidates in Michigan, where she told the crowd she will “continue to support you forever and ever.” She also stood with the president in January, when Trump praised her for investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into Trump Accounts for her supporters’ children, and declared then that she is “probably the president’s No. 1 fan.” Earlier this year, Minaj also said she is finalizing her U.S. citizenship paperwork.

Ahead of Sunday’s rally, Minaj chatted with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung aboard Air Force One. Cheung posted a clip of the conversation and floated Minaj as the next press secretary following Katie Zacharia’s exit earlier this month, writing, “I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Minaj reshared the post with an American flag and a sweating laughing emoji, staying coy about the idea.

In the clip, Minaj praised Trump’s handling of the economy, saying “we have a president who understands economics” and calling him a natural businessman. She also said he is “tough internationally” and touted his work ethic, noting that he gets up at four in the morning and “outworks people who are half his age.” Minaj has told the Daily Mail that this is the “most important midterm election of our lifetimes.”
