A woman running for school board in Monroe, Michigan, is drawing fresh attention for a profanity-laced video in which she said MAGA supporters of President Donald Trump should “burn down to the ground” because they “do not deserve to breathe.” Warning: the video contains numerous F-bombs.
The candidate, Mary Renwick, recorded the rant herself in the immediate aftermath of the death of Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis in January when Good allegedly tried to run him over with her car. The circumstances of the shooting remain in dispute.
In the video, Renwick directed her anger at everyone who voted for Trump, saying, “f*** you!” She blamed them for what happened in Minnesota, insisting that Good “was not a threat” and calling ICE “the terrorists.” She also called MAGA supporters “cultists” who are out of their minds.
Renwick went on to say she prays she lives long enough to see Trump supporters either “burn down to the ground” or end up in court and locked up, adding that they do not deserve to breathe the same air “as the rest of us who have a conscience.” She ended with, “F*** all of you!”
According to a fundraising page, Renwick is the mother of three children, owns MJR Photography and is an active member of the Monroe community who is “deeply invested in the success of our schools.”
The video was shared by Libs of TikTok, which asked, “Is this who you want in charge of your kid’s education?” Michael A. Rothman, publisher of the Rothman Report, said Renwick is asking Michigan parents to put her in charge of their children’s school board while telling half the country’s parents they deserve to burn. “Parents should remember this video,” he wrote. Author Juanita Broaddrick also weighed in, pointing to Renwick’s eyes and asking, “Drugs?”
Other commenters online questioned why voters would put someone who threatens people’s lives in charge of a school district, with one noting that “a big chunk of Michiganders” may still want her there.
According to the Monroe News, eight candidates are running for three four-year seats on the Monroe Public School District Board of Education. Incumbent Brian Sabbadini is not seeking reelection, while incumbents Thomas Heck and Darla Myers are. Joining them on the ballot are Laura Petee, Cindy Flynn, Amanda Hawes, Pansy Heath, Jesse Mayo and Renwick.
