Undercover Video: Slotkin Touts “Signature Cases” Against Trump Team

Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin outlined plans to pursue Trump administration officials if Democrats win a majority in Congress, according to undercover video obtained by Townhall. The Post Millennial characterized the remarks as “lawfare” plans.

Slotkin was campaigning Thursday for congressional candidate Sean McCann when a person on the video told her, “I’m worried that we’re going to be too nice,” and asked what Democrats would do to hold “the Trump regime and its collaborators” responsible. “I’m talking prosecutions,” the person said.

“I’m with you,” Slotkin replied, according to the video. She said that assuming Democrats win both chambers, or even one, “we have a list of, like, the ‘signature cases,’” describing them as matters that are “so egregious, such a violation of law.” She said every committee would have its own signature cases “where we hold people accountable.”

Slotkin said she had recently traveled to Budapest, Hungary, because the country “just got rid of their authoritarian leader after 16 years,” and that she sought advice on how it handled corruption. “We don’t have that much, but we have so much,” she said, adding that Hungary used the signature cases strategy.

She said such cases are things that “people identify with,” and named the ballroom project and the reflecting pool renovation as examples.

Slotkin, who campaigned as a moderate and worked at the CIA under the Bush and Obama administrations, recently drew criticism for talking about targeting Trump administration officials to deter young conservatives from working in government. She has also claimed that the president will “come up with a national security incident” to change the results of the midterm elections.
