Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, R-Wyo., is accusing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., of working with Mary Peltola’s campaign for more than a year to put a second “Dan Sullivan” on the ballot in Alaska’s Senate race, The Gateway Pundit reports, citing Fox News.
According to reporting from The New York Times, operatives for Peltola’s Senate campaign and top aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) are alleged to have been involved in finding and recruiting another candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, R-Alaska.
National Democrats have maintained they had no hand in the move. But Barrasso told Fox News Digital in an interview that he believes the effort had help from the very top.
“I mean, this is criminal behavior to steal the Alaska Senate race, it’s now been fully exposed,” Barrasso said. He claimed there is proof that the Peltola campaign knew about the effort and that Schumer “schemed and colluded with them for over a year” to coax a decoy candidate onto the ballot “with a purpose only to deceive the voters.”
The Gateway Pundit noted that there is little other reporting on Barrasso’s claim so far, but said more is likely to come, especially if his allegations prove accurate.
